Iztaccuauhtli Hector Gonzalez grew up in Contra Costa County from the age of 5. Having his roots in the county he established himself as a small business owner with over 25 years of experience serving the community.
Iztaccuauhlti’s Father is no stranger to hard manual labor and taking risks to create change. Salvador dropped out from the early age of 6 years to help his family by being a goat herder. He knew he wanted a better life for his family and decided to take the chance and establish his own small business in West Pittsburg. His Mother Raquel met Salvador at a bus stop in Los Angeles. From the moment she met him she knew he was a strong righteous person filled with integrity. She took her chance on him, and they established themselves and a few years later migrated to Contra Costa County.
Iztaccuauhtli attended Elementary, Junior High, and High School all in Contra Costa County. He has seen the incredible developments in his County. He was presented with the Principal Award from Concord High. He was elected President of the first Latinos Unidos Club where he initiated the 1st ever multi-cultural event. He also worked with students in conflict resolution and communication. Some of his contributions included organizing a trip for students to visit a local university, mentoring ELD Students, but more importantly he paved the way for future generations.
He Studied abroad in the City of Mexico and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor's in history. He served on the Board of Directors for the Associated Students Incorporated, the student board of directors for Cal Poly students. He taught for 3 years as a substitute teacher then as a World History Teacher for High School and Middle School. He is happily married and a father of 3. He currently teaches clients on protecting their income and assets with insurance products and helps set up and review their investments. He was the past President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Contra Costa County.

EMPOWERMENT

Make our City Government more Effective, Efficient, Inclusive and More Responsive
Empowerment begins with you. To better represent our city, I believe in an all-inclusive community where every opinion, thought, and idea must be heard and considered. To truly represent your community, innovation can come from everyone and anyone, especially YOU!

Make our City Government more Effective, Efficient, Inclusive and More Responsive
I will have our government department leaders and supervisors help institute outstanding customer service and acquire training and technical skills and tools to be able to serve our community more efficiently and become more responsive in the future. Will also encourage volunteers and part-time workers to join county government and support our public servants.

Provide funding to prosecute more crime and vandalism to stop many repeating offenders so they can finally be held accountable. Encourage more neighborhood watch type programs working with police and the public by using video cameras both public and private to have recordings to identify and locate perpetrators and make it easier to prosecute them. All this and more will help deter and decrease crime and vandalism. I also support changing recent laws that have left perpetrators of smaller acts of theft and vandalism without any consequences. With this, I hope to combat lawlessness and prove that any misdemeanor is worth being addressed and dealt with properly.

Many times, those with power and influence are the recipients of many of the resources and when available to them, they will strive to get more for their own sake and benefit. Many of the most vulnerable residents lack this power and influence to benefit from many of the resources in our city. Knowing this, as an elected leader I will always fight for all members of our community, especially paying attention to our most vulnerable residents. I plan to invite and encourage more participation from all members of our community by doing more outreach and being a source of relatability and reliance. I will make it easier for our community members to access county budgets, revenue and expenses, and different investments that we make in our city. I am sure there are inactive residents that, given an opportunity to be involved, would help voice their wants and ideas to better spend our tax dollars and help the government be more impactful towards our population and long-term goals in the community.

Meet with the Housing Developers that have developed housing in the last 8 years and ask them what Government can do, whether it be changing regulations and requirements to have more affordable housing. If a solution cannot be found with our private sector or private-public partnerships, then our government will have to take a much more aggressive and active role in finding the solution by looking at what has been done in other parts of the county, state, country, and other countries. By comparing other solutions, we will work to implement the best options one step at a time and/or advance through multiple actions at once. Vote Gonzalez for Pittsburg City Council Race.

Our law enforcement officers throughout our beautiful county take an oath to protect, defend and follow the United States constitution as well as following federal and state laws. They are officers that work to enforce our laws and protect and serve our community. When an officer breaks this covenant and chooses to act against these laws, they should no longer be an officer for our county. I support accountability and thank our county, state and federal officials for their help in their investigations and help in holding our officers accountable. By having an extensive hiring system, screening, training, constant ongoing training, modern working body cameras with audio, and other sources of accountability, we can have a superb group of law enforcement officers.

I believe most of the cases of homelessness have stemmed from either a drug addiction or psychiatric disability, psychiatric illness, emotional disorders, or mental disabilities. There are some homeless shelters that provide warm shelter and food. However, rightfully so many, if not all, homeless shelters have basic rules such as no drugs and seek to limit what homeless people can bring to the shelter. This might cause a homeless person to find shelter elsewhere to be able to keep their items or pursue their drug habits without someone dictating their actions. Like rebels, some homeless people maintain a sense of wanting to live free and survive on their own terms. There are also people with economic reasons that have resulted in homelessness, especially with the ever-increasing cost of housing and the required pre-requisite of having good credit to qualify for most rentals.
To reduce homelessness in our city our designated County and City government leaders and team members from both Government and non-profit organizations must work together to establish a comprehensive data base or our homeless population that is updated and kept up to date. We will learn if individual homeless people are a young person, a member of a family, a single adult, a veteran, or a chronic homeless person. Once we have comprehensive information, we will build teams of people from across our government and non-profit organizations, including volunteers, that want to make a difference. Every homeless person has unique needs, and we will have to address them one by one, making progress with the goal of helping everyone find and achieve sustainable warm shelter and food.
The goal would be to have them integrated once again into our community, by becoming independent, feeling good about themselves, and becoming the next great teachers and volunteers to those that, like them, were once in need.
